British Values
At Laceyfields Academy, we know that preparing children for modern life in Britain is a very important part of their education.
We introduce these values in many different ways and they are part of our everyday ethos.
The British Values are:
Democracy- Making decisions together, the right to an opinion/voice
Rule of Law- Understanding rules and why they are important, following rules to develop order
Individual Liberty- Freedom of speech, the right to make our own choices
Mutual Respect- Treating others as you want to be treated, respect for each other, working together
Tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs- Learning about different cultures and faiths, listen to others viewpoints, learning about diversity
For each British Value, we have a manta and an action:
Rule of Law- 'We follow the rules so we can be safe.' (Arms folded over chest, feeling safe)
Democracy-'We have choices, our voices matter.' (Hand up as if voting)
Tolerance-'We are kind to others and respect what they believe in.' (Hands in prayer position)
Individual Liberty- 'We feel confident to express ourselves.' (Jazz hands)
Respect-'We are all important as each other.' (Hands clasped symbolising kindness)
These values are also worked on through our school values of:
We are respectful
We are creative
We are resilient
We are collaborative
We are responsible
