Communication to parents Thursday 19th March 2020
Thu 19 Mar 2020Thursday 19th March 2020
Dear Parents
Following government instructions this academy will close to most pupils from the end of this week. There will be no school from next week until further notice.
Your child will be given work to do at home and there will be further resources and ideas on our website. Please encourage your child to continue their learning and do lots of reading over the coming weeks. Each week teachers will update resources so that there will be new activities and resources for your child. Keep watch on the website to see what’s new
There will be school activity places for some children as per the government’s instructions. If your child qualifies staff will be in touch with you.
Please let staff know if you believe that your job qualifies as a ‘key worker’ and we will offer your child/children a place. We are waiting for the government to tell us exactly who they mean by ‘key worker’ but we believe this will include: NHS workers, police, firefighters, delivery drivers, social workers and employed care workers.
If your child is eligible for free school meals we are working to put something in place to support you and your children. The government are looking to introduce a voucher system but this is not yet in place. If necessary we will provide shopping vouchers for £15 per week for each child eligible for free school meals until this national system is in place. This is not the same as the universal free lunch that all children from aged 5 to 7 receive at present, it is only for those actually qualifying for free school meals. It may take us until next week to get this in place so please bear with us and we will let you know next week by text.
These are very difficult times for all of us. At Djanogly Learning Trust we always seek to put children first. We are working to balance what is best for the children and their families, what is best for our staff and what the government is asking us to do at a time of national crisis. I wish you all the very best and look forward to seeing everyone back when things return to normal – whenever that may be. We will continue to keep you updated by text and on our websites as and when things change.
Please don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions, school phone numbers will be answered from 8.00am to 4.00pm on weekdays.
Regards
Mrs Liz Anderson
